Indiana has a new law that bans sleeping or long-term sheltering on state and local public property.
This could cause issues for those experiencing homelessness.
The law states that before filing charges, law enforcement must issue warnings, assess mental health needs, and provide information about available shelters.
Arrests can only occur if the person remains within 300 feet of the warned location after 48 hours.
Officials with EPD say the new law will not affect the work they are currently doing with Aurora and other organizations.
