A fire shut down the William H. Natcher Bridge on U.S. 231 last night.
The fire appeared to have started in driftwood that had accumulated beneath the bridge following recent flooding in the area.
Inspectors assessed the supports and determined the structure only suffered cosmetic damage.
Repairs will be made in coordination with an ongoing maintenance project.
The bridge reopened around 9:30.
