Picking out a Christmas tree is a family tradition for some, but this Kentucky family got the surprise of their lives after finding something else came with it. According to WDKY in Lexington, the White family went hunting for this year’s Christmas tree, which they say is a tradition they do every year. They took the tree home, and even decorated it with ornaments and tinsel all around. For four days, everything seemed normal, until they took a closer look in the branches.

The baby owl was hidden in the branches for four days. Even the family dogs couldn’t detect this little guy. It took a hired carpet cleaner to spot the own on a branch before the family could even find it. He took a quick picture, and released the bird once the family returned home to wish it a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
