Thanksgiving is traditionally celebrated by preparing a lavish feast that is shared with our friends and family members. Your dog is also an important member of your family, but does that mean he or she should indulge in the same festive foods?
Sharing our holiday feast of turkey and all the trimmings with our furry family members can be tempting. But how do you know what Thanksgiving foods dogs can eat? And, equally important, what Thanksgiving foods are bad for dogs?
1. Cooked, unseasoned turkey
2. Small quantities of fresh cranberry sauce (free from any sweeteners or spices)
3. Plain, cooked green beans
4. Plain, cooked sweet potatoes (mashed or dehydrated slices)
5. Cooked or canned pumpkin (free from any sweeteners or spices)
Thanksgiving foods that are dangerous for dogs:
1. Unbaked bread dough
2. Grapes and raisins
3. Rich, decadent desserts
4. Mashed potatoes, gravy, and buttery sweet potato casserole
5. Bones
