ISO Float Center is Evansville’s first float and wellness center. My first experience floating was there, and I fully recommend it to anyone looking to improve their overall well being. I’ve talked about it on-air and social media, and recently asked friends and followers on Instagram to let me know if they have any questions about floating. These are the ones I was asked the most, and I hope they help you learn more about what to expect.
First, let’s get this out of the way. What IS floating?
Floating is said to provide a deep, relaxing, therapeutic experience similar to meditation. It also relieves anxiety and stress, reduces muscle pain, and increases energy. Several athletes and professionals say they float to increase focus.
Next, where is ISO Float Center and how much does it cost to float?
ISO Float Center is located in the North Park Shopping Center inside The Arcade. They are open Tuesday through Sunday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. The price varies on length of float, and is $55 for 60 minutes or $70 for 90 minutes. They offer various packages as well, including a cost-saving introductory package that I recommend for beginning floaters, and a membership option, too.
Question #3: How long do you float and what’s it like?
The reason I recommend the introductory package, is because it includes three floats for a discounted price, and I really think you need to float three times before you get the hang of it. At first, your brain will wander all over the place and you may feel restless. I’ve floated five times, and I really think now I just hop in and take the best nap of my life. Give yourself a chance to settle in and get the hang of it. The benefits are real!
Okay, next question.
No. I’m not sure why it would, but it doesn’t. It’s very comfortable and relaxing.
Number 5:
Your whole body is inside the tank. It’s pretty spacious. You can sit up comfortably with plenty of room. You just open the door, climb in, and lie down.
6!
LOL. This hasn’t happened to me. The tank is located in a private room with a shower, but no toilet. If you need to use the restroom, you’ll need to get out of the tank, slip on your robe, leave the room and walk over to the bathroom. It wouldn’t be a big deal, but you’ll lose time from your float. You can always use the restroom right before you go in. That’s probably the best idea.
Two more questions!
I’ve wondered this, as I think some light meditation music might help my mind be still, but the real purpose of floating is to deprive your senses. The tank is actually called a sensory deprivation tank. It’s the best way to get the full benefits.
And number 8…
Yes. Yes, they do. LOL.
