For those that have walked around Holiday World and Splashin’ Safari, you have seen the work of artist Rick Emmons. He is the man behind the iconic signs, murals, and more all around the park. For 52 years, Rick has given color and life to the park with his talents. After working as the sign shop manager of Holiday World for decades, he will finally retire at the end of this month.
Holiday World opened its doors for the first time in 1946 as Santa Clause Land, and starting in 1972, Rick has been literally painted the park left and right. The mural in Santa’s Merry Marketplace (formerly Kringle’s Kafe) was painted by Rick. Virtually every sign in front of the rides of Holiday World were created and painted by Rick. We want to thank Rick Emmons for all the beautiful work he’s made these past decades and the decades following his retirement will also appreciate his hard work. For more info, you can click HERE.
