EPD conducted a traffic stop on Covert Avenue for a driver speeding Saturday night.
The driver was identified as 32 year old Demario Smith.
He was also driving on expired plates, no insurance or drivers license.
Officers asked Smith to step out of the vehicle so it could be towed.
While conducting a tow inventory a gun was found under the driver’s seat.
Smith told police the gun belonged to his friend.
The serial number was ran and came back stolen.
Smith was taken to the Vanderburgh County jail and Charged with theft.
