Mater Dei football fans welcomed the winning team home and celebrated on Sunday with a fire truck parade.
The Wildcats defeated Andrean 20 to 10 to win the IHSAA class 2A football state championship on Friday.
According to their head coach they deserve any kind of applause they get because they did it the old fashion way, they worked hard for it.
The last time Mater Dei football won a state title was in 2000, before any of the members of the team were born.
