It was February 6, 1992 — 30 years ago — that a Kentucky Air National Guard C-130 cargo plane literally dropped out of the sky and crashed into JoJo’s Restaurant and the Drury Inn on Evansville’s north side.
Sixteen people were killed, including two in the restaurant and nine in the hotel.
Dennis Serio was general manager of JoJo’s at that time. Recently, he returned to the building — which is now a Denny’s — and sat down at a table quite near the one he was at on that late morning three decades ago. while there he conjured up his memories of that fateful morning in an interview with reporter Jay Zimmer, who was also there that day.
