LST 325 has slipped its moorings at Marina Point and makes an advance visit to what will be her new home.
The ship tied up today (Wednesday) off the Tropicana casino in the spot where the riverboat once floated.
The ship was one of hundreds of LSTs (and the last operational ship of the type) that landed on the Normandy beaches 75 years ago, and will be ground zero for anniversary celebrations on Thursday.
While a historic B-17 flies overhead (with WIKY’s morning personality Diane Douglas aboard), the delegation from France will present that country’s prestigious Legion of Honor award to an Evansville D-Day veteran.
