Evansville is no longer mentioned as the Meth Capital of America, but make no mistake about it, the problem of the crystaline drug is far from over.
Vanderburgh County Coroner Steve Lockyear says the opiod crisis is grabbing all the headlines, but over a third of the overdose deaths locally involve methamphetamine.
Drug involved deaths, he says, a particularly hard on families, whose members often find the victim unresponsive.
Lockyear further points out that while Narcan is available to stop the effects of an opiod overdose, no similar treatment is available for meth victims.
