Annual GRAMMY Awards are officially in the books! Alicia Keys hosted the show and started off the night introducing some of her “sisters,” Lady Gaga, Jada Pinkett Smith, J-Lo and Michelle Obama, all who talked about what music means to them. Country singer Kacey Musgraves was the night’s big winner, taking home four awards, including the night’s big trophy, Album of the Year. As for the other major categories, Childish Gambino, took home three honors, including Song of the Year (the first rap song to win the category) and Record of the Year for “This Is America.” Dua Lipa won Best New Artist and Cardi B won her first GRAMMY for Best Rap Album (making her the first female to do so.) One of the most talked about moments of the night was when Drake won “Best Rap Song” for ‘God’s Plan’ and had his microphone cut off when he threw shade at the award show in his speech.
As far as performances go, Camilla Cabello opened the show with help from Ricky Martin, J. Balvin and Young Thug. Shawn Mendes performed his hit “In My Blood” alongside Miley Cyrus. Cardi B performed her song “Money” and showed off her best moves while on-top a piano, although many on Twitter accused her of lip syncing. In addition to the regular performances, there were several tributes last night, including one honoring this year’s MusiCares Person of the Year, Dolly Parton. Another popular tribute was the Motown celebration which included appearances from Smokey Robinson, Ne-Yo and Jennifer Lopez.
