Last year, the IHSAA moved the Indiana State Finals of wrestling to the Ford Center in Evansville. It was a rare event that we may not see again in the near future, but it brought the best high school wrestlers from around the state to our River City. This year is back to normal with the return of the Semi-State stage of the road to State Finals.

According to the website for the IHSAA, we can expect to see Tri-State wrestlers compete, as well as those from Bloomington South, Jeffersonville, and Mooresville. Wrestlers that place in the top 4 of their weight class will advance to the State Finals in Indianapolis at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on February 21st. You can buy your tickets now at $12 per person, kids 5 and under get in free.
I recently traveled to my old high school, South Spencer, to interview one of the Semi-State finalists. Braydon Hughes is a junior and will wrestle in the 175-pound weight class for the chance to go to State finals in Indianapolis.
Good luck to all the student athletes this weekend!
