It took 83 years, but finally Virginia “Ginnie” Hislop received her Master’s degree. Back in the 1940’s, Ginnie had complete all of her coursework to get her Master’s degree, but due to World War II breaking out she was unable to turn in her thesis paper. After the war, life got in the way and Ginnie didn’t have time to go back and write a new paper. These days, Stanford University does not require a thesis paper to get a Master’s degree. Due to that rule, Ginnie then qualified to receive her Master’s and walk on stage to get her diploma. Ginnie was given her degree and a standing ovation as the crowd learned about her story and what she’s done for her community. Congratulations Ginnie!
