Evansville’s new fire chief is former assistant chief Paul Anslinger.
He succeeded former chief Mike Connelly who abruptly retired last week.
In a Monday news conference, Anslinger said he doesn’t plan to make any major changes in the department.
He said he’s excited to take on the leadership role.
Anslinger would not comment on his predecessor’s resignation.
He said there would be no assistant chief appointed until he is fully comfortable in his new role.
