The Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Campaign runs from Friday through July 8th for the 4th of July holiday.
Extra patrols will be on the highways looking for impaired drivers.
During the weekend around Independence Day last year, there were 11 fatal collisions with two involving a driver over the legal limit.
In Indiana, it is illegal to drive with a Blood Alcohol Concentration of .08 or higher.
Drugs and over the counter medications can also cause impairment.
Indiana State Police are encouraging everyone to plan a safe and sober ride home before going out.
