Gov. Eric Holcomb has filed a lawsuit over legislation that would give the Indiana General Assembly more authority to intervene during governor-declared emergencies on things like mask mandates and business restrictions.
Gov. Holcomb asked a trial court judge to find key provisions of the bill unconstitutional and to issue a permanent injunction to prevent them from being used.
He said his filing is about the future of the executive branch and all the Governors who will serve after him.
Governor Holcomb vetoed the bill on April 9. The House and Senate overrode the veto on April 15.
