Chanting “Black Lives Matter,” and “No justice, no peace,” hundreds of protesters gathered at the Four Freedoms Monument Saturday evening.
They came to remember George Floyd, and to send a message that the system as it now stands need to change.
Holding signs and listening to speakers expounding on a bull-horn, the participants, black, white, Hispanic and others, headed up the former Main Street walkway to continue their messages in the Ford Center Plaza.
The week had been rife with rumors of out-of-town agitators arriving to create unrest and promote a violent and destructive agenda.
Police took precautions including surrounding the Civic Center with water-filled barricades.
Protesters also visited Henderson’s city park on Saturday with the same mission and the same message. Those protesters also ran a peaceful demonstration.
