In a morning news conference in Frankfort, Kentucky State Police and other officials including Governor Matt Bevin unveiled some new techmnology.
Heretofore, processing a rape kit was a matter of days or weeks before results could become available to allow the arrest of a sexual predator or theexoneration of an innocent person.
The Commonwealth of Kentucky is the first state to use new technology that allows DNA evidence to be processed in as little as two hours.
KSP Commissioner Rick Sanders put Kentucky’s sexual predators on notice; “We’re coming after you.”
He said the new process will speed dramatically the production of evidence, eliminate rape kit backlogs and further the cause of justice in sexual assault cases.
