The Indiana House votes by a narrow margin to trim the second sentence from the marriage ban bill. A bipartisan group approved taking out the sentence that bars civil unions from the proposed constitutional ban on gay marriage. The vote was 52-43, and it drew cheers from activists gathered outside the House chamber. The sentence has been a sticking point for many lawmakers, including some who have said they otherwise support banning gay marriage.
