"Jay" Carter trial delayed after attorney withdraws

The trial of a former member of Evansville's Redevelopment Commission is postponed. That's because the lawyer for John “Jay” Carter withdrew from the case. Carter had decided he wanted a trial instead of negotiating a plea agreement on federal money laundering charges. Attorney John Brinson then said he was withdrawing. Carter faces seven money laundering counts, two of providing false statements, one of conspiracy to commit money laundering, and one of illegally structuring a currency transaction.
